Set-Up and Begin Session 1

Welcome everyone.  Please login, post a photo of yourself and give a brief description of who you are, what and where you teach.  As soon as we have everyone logged in and successfully posting, we will begin.

You should have been given a book a the training session.  If you don't have a book, please contact Clabe.  We will also be working through the "Teach Like A Champion" book as our next book in the book study.  You should have this book as well.

As this platform maybe new to some, we will start slow and work through the process.  Your first assignment is:

Post a photo of you
Describe a bit about yourself
Tell us where, what grade level and what you teach
Obtain the books

    Hello,
    I am a special education teacher at George Rogers Clark HS in Winchester. I teach grades 10-12th. I have English II and Arts and Humanities this year. Last year I had English II and US History. I'm very excited to be part of this group!

    Hi,
    I am Kacey King and I teach at Casey County High School. I adjunct instruct for Somerset Community College and Campbellsville University.

    I teach 9th grade government, economics, and geography; 11th grade dual credit US History; and 12th grade dual credit Sociology.

    I have a bachelor's degree in social science area with teaching rights; master's degree in history and sociology; and I am currently working on a school improvement master's with a program specialty in history.

    My favorite sport is shopping and I am currently husband hunting--which isn't going so well, so sadly, I should have plenty of time to devote to reading this book on weekends!

    I am not sure how many others are planning to do the book study. I know Veronica was planning to do it, but I am not sure about the others. I will spread the word and get them up and running!

    Good Evening! My name is Traci Sharpe and I currently serve at the Director of Exceptional Child Education for Taylor County Schools. With that, my role is a bit different as I participate in this cadre. Ultimately, I strive to take materials and information back to my staff for their use in educating our students. I reside in Columbia, Kentucky with my husband and two very energetic kids--Tate (8) and Anna Beth (3)!

    Hello! I'm Bethany Briscoe. I work at Madison Central High School in Richmond. I teach Integrated Social Studies (Civics, Economics and Geography) to 9th graders and Sociology to 11th graders. My husband, Jamie, and I are expecting our first child in January!

    I am not very good at blogging so I hit the button before I was finished. Anyway, I have a Bachlors degree in History and Psychology, a fifth year in Special education, and a Masters in Curriculum Development and Instruction. This is my 21st year teaching and I have been through many changes in special ed. I am really enjoying the chance to talk about something other than IEPs, BIPS, and ARC's!

    I am Shannon Williams. I am in my ninth year at Casey County High School, and I teach 9th grade Social Studies (Government, Economics, and Geography) and 11th grade United States History. I have a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, a M.A. in Education and another M.A. in Educational Leadership.     Hi Everyone! My name is Jessi Wheeler, from Somerset, KY. I teach Government/Economics (10th grade) at Pulaski County High School and I have taught U.S. History (11th grade) as well. I graduated from Lindsey Wilson College with a degree in Social Science, History, and Secondary Education. I am currently working on my Masters at Union College in the Principal/Leadership Program.     Finally get to post! I am Sharessa Crovo and I teach 9th grade advanced citizenship (govt. and econ)at Paul Laurence Dunbar. I have three little girls who are 3, 3, and 4. I am excited to share ideas and see how others interpret the book.
